Schedule Departure
Scheduling Procedures
Please note: scheduling is done on a first come, first served basis.

Crowley’s uses four dates to plan your departure. The DEPARTURE DATE is the date you choose to go to the harbor. Crowley’s sets the LAUNCH DATE (the day we actually launch your boat) based on workloads and launch requirements. This day may be up to five (5) days prior to your departure date. The STAGE DATE is the date we move your boat to a staging area in preparation for launching. If your boat is stored inside, we will also set a MOVE DATE. This is the day we move your boat out of the storage building. For sailboats, this date will be at least two (2) weeks prior to your departure date. We will begin moving boats out of inside storage at our discretion beginning April 1st. If for some reason you need your boat to remain inside, please contact Customer Service so they can adjust the schedule to suit your needs.

We will call to confirm your work orders and departure schedule two (2) weeks prior to your departure date. You should plan to have all of your work completed prior to your STAGE DATE. Rescheduling your departure date after your boat has been staged will result in additional fees.
Boat Delivery Service
We offer turnkey deliveries between Crowley’s Yacht Yard and Chicago’s harbors. Our skippers will call and customize this service to suit your needs. Select the date you would like your boat to be at the harbor. Your delivery will be done one (1) to ten (10) days prior to your requested date. Your delivery captain will contact you with details. Customers utilizing this service must order an engine start.
To Jackson Park   $175
To Burnham $250
To Monroe & DuSable $275

Engine and Drive Services
Engine Start and 18 Point Check
Crowley’s engine start and 18-point engine check service is the best way to minimize last minute surprises and start your season with confidence. After launching, Crowley’s marine certified mechanics will start your engine and perform an 18-point check of your engine and related systems. Included is a visual inspection of the engine, fluid levels, hoses, belts, wires, cables, shafts, alternator output and other related systems. A written report is left on your boat for your records. In most cases, an engine start is required when other engine work is ordered.

Zinc Replacement and Installation
Anti corrosion zincs are a good way to protect valuable metal components from corrosion below the water line. Stray electrical current and galvanic corrosion can irreparably damage your propellers, shafts, struts, rudders, drives, and other components. These inexpensive anodes attract the galvanic currents and corrode – instead of your other valuable metal items. They can usually be replaced in less than one hour.
$85 per hour plus materials
Gas Engine Tune Up
New plugs, wires, caps and rotors are installed to ensure that the ignition system fires properly. The carburetor and timing are adjusted as necessary to aid in quick starts and full power throughout the operating range. The work is completed in addition to the engine start.
Starting at $170 plus engine start and materials
Shaft Alignment
Our shaft alignment is the key to smooth powering. The system is adjusted and any other sources of vibration are checked. Recommendations are made. If you experienced excessive vibration last year while under power, you are a candidate for this service.
$85 per hour plus engine start and materials
Repack Stuffing Box
We recommend this service every few years. We repack the stuffing box (the point where the shaft comes through the hull) before the boat goes in the water. After the boat is launched, a mechanic will run the engine and make adjustments.
$85 per hour plus engine start and materials
Sterndrive Service
Regular maintenance of your sterndrive will help prevent the need for a costly drive replacement. Our mechanics will remove your sterndrive and inspect the bellows, boots, shift cable, input shaft and coupler. We will lubricate the input shaft and coupler and change the upper and lower unit oil. After the inspection, lubrication and the oil change the drive is reinstalled with a fresh seal kit. Trim operation & fluid levels are checked along with engine alignment.

Fiberglass Repairs
Gelcoat Touch Ups
No matter how careful or skilled you are, if you use your boat, you will inevitably end up with nicks and gouges in your deck and hull sides. Making repairs to your gelcoat is a tricky operation. Done incorrectly, a repair can look worse than the damage. We employ some of the most skilled craftsmen in the country in this trade. Crowley’s routinely does complicated nonskid repairs, color matches and structural glass repairs that other yards will not even attempt.
